Grade Calculator FAQ

What's the difference between weighted and unweighted grades?

Weighted grades account for the importance of each assignment. A final exam weighted at 40% has more impact than homework weighted at 10%. Unweighted grades treat all assignments equally regardless of importance.

Do all assignment weights need to equal 100%?

Yes, for accurate weighted grade calculation. If weights don't add to 100%, the calculator will show a warning. Make sure your weights match your course syllabus.

How can I calculate what I need on my final?

Enter all your current assignment scores and weights, then add your final exam with its weight. Adjust the final exam score until you reach your desired final grade. This shows what score you need on the final.

Can I use this for multiple classes?

Yes, but calculate each class separately. You can't mix assignments from different courses in one calculation. Reset the calculator between classes using the clear function.

What if my school uses a different grading scale?

This calculator uses the standard US grading scale (A=93-100, B=83-86, etc.). If your school uses different cutoffs, use the percentage grade and convert to your school's letter grade manually.

How accurate is the grade calculation?

Very accurate! The calculator uses precise mathematical formulas: (Sum of (Score ÷ Max Score × Weight)) ÷ Total Weight for weighted grades. Results are shown to two decimal places.
